Obviously, being the Dairy Capital of the South means that the dairy industry is a major factor in Kentwood's economy. In addition, some of the main employers for residents of Kentwood real estate are Kentwood Manor Nursing Home, Kentwood Spring Water, Kentwood Brick, the Kentwood Co-Op (agriculture) and the Town of Kentwood itself.
Kentwood Educational System
Students residing in Kentwood attend public schools served by the Tangipahoa Parish School District. There are three elementary schools and two junior/senior high schools occupying Kentwood real estate. Southeastern Louisiana University is the closest college or university and is located in nearby Hammond.

The Camp Moore Confederate Cemetary and Museum is a monument to Louisiana's largest Confederate training camp. It is also the only Confederate training camp that remains open to the public, which allows visitors to experience what it was like to live during "The War Between the States."

The Kentwood Museum is a diverse piece of Kentwood real estate. It's main focus is on servicement from the area that were involved in WWII to the present, with exhibits containing souvenirs, medals and war memorabilia. Every October, Kentwood celebrates its rich African-American heritage with the Sweet Home Folklife Days Festival. This annual festival's roots began with the ladies of the Sweet Home Baptist Missionary Church Museum who wanted to record and remember where they came from.
