Incorporated in 1838, Springfield real estate is the oldest town in Livingston Parish.  Functioning as the parish seat of Livingston Parish from 1835-1872, the old courthouse remains standing today.  The town's name is derived from the abundance of artesian springs throughout the area.

Springfield public schools are run by Livingston Parish Public Schools.  There is one elementary, one junior high and one high school operating within the Livingston Parish Public Schools system in Springfield real estate.  Springfield High School is home to the fighting Bulldogs.  The small town and small district mean a nice student/teacher ratio of 16:1.

Springfield real estate includes a few public parks that take advantage of the beauty surrounding the town.  One of the fun places to visit while in Springfield is the Carter Plantation, the area's newest golf resort.  It incorporates a David Toms Signature 18-hole, par 72 golf course with residential facilities.  The resort can host overnight guests and there is a pavilion on site that is available for rent for special occasions.
